What can I say about Toni? Toni was beautiful, intelligent, supportive, loving, courageous and inspirational, in fact there are so many positive things to be said about her that it would take the whole page to list them. Toni loved her nieces and nephews whole heartedly and would give them the gift of time and would give them experiences to look back on and treasure, these moments include teaching them to ride, going to theatre and museum trips, although this would come at a price. If you rode the horse you had to groom him or poo pick the field to thank him or if you cooked you would wash up. Which was not always popular!
Toni was honest without being cruel and could keep her head in a crisis, where others wouldn't. She would tell you what you needed to hear but not what you necessarily wanted to hear, the majority of the time she was right - Which was frustrating for a stubborn person like me!! Although Toni had been ill for some time this did not define her and she had the fierce determination to live life, she fought bravely until her last day and remained herself and proud.
Toni went on a 6 week road trip with her youngest nephew and to Lisbon with her youngest niece, and I had a lovely trip to Rome with her in October and visited Pompeii which is a wonderful memory for me as we both wanted to visit it for a long time. On one trip with my son (her nephew) she didn't let her illness become a disadvantage and used it to power through the week and even played with my son in the sea, letting him do back flips off her into the water - whilst having a broken back, which she found out upon returning back to England from Spain.
Toni brought light into her friends and families lives with her selflessness and encouragement to try new things. If you expressed an interest in something Toni would be likely to book up before you had finished talking about it. Toni was modest and didn't necessarily know how she had touched our lives or how much she was appreciated by everyone she had ever met, as her kindness of spirit came so naturally. We all love and miss her dearly.
Lastly I would like to thank the doctors and nurses that have helped us in the past months and the St Leonard's Hospice at Home team for the care given to Toni but also the support given to me, without this her and my life would have been a lot more difficult than it was.
Toni was a good friend who was a real inspiration. She was also very talented and generous. Although if she was here right now she would disagree with me. Still can't believe she has gone. Love to all her family and friends.
I didn't know you but I got to hear how much jude loved you and the fun you had together. Sorry you left this world too soon.
A great honest and caring colleague
